LEAVING THE ELEMENTARY LIFE TO LIVING THE APPLIED LIFE.
1 Cor. 3:1.
Brothers and sisters, I could not address you as people who live by the Spirit but as people who are still worldly—mere infants in Christ. (NIV)
Every child born into this world has a spiritual journey to embrace, embark and live and this journey is in three phases. We are to move from one phase to another in anticipation of attaining the life set out for us to live
First, we are blessed with the seed of life in an ELEMENTARY form.
Second, we are to cultivate the seed and grow it to an ADVANCED life of maturity.
Third, we are to derive our blessings and contentments from the APPLIED life we live.
So each of us has an elementary, advanced and applied life to live.
Each of these category of life offers the believer certain rights and privileges and each category is different from the other.
Brother Paul was a man of deep understanding in spiritual matters. He understood that in life we need to move from a certain class to another.
In addressing believers in the Church at Corinth, Paul emphatically categorized and scored them as people in the elementary class. He saw and related with them only as children. He observed their immaturity at a time they were supposed to be adults and so couldn't feed them with a more benefitting spiritual meal.
In verse two, Paul said, "I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready".
Milk is good for children and harmful to adults. Same way solids are harmful to babes and beneficial to adults. Adults need solid food to stay strong and healthy. If you are an adult and still crave for milk, its only a sign that you have not advanced. A man's level of life determines the food he craves for.
As spiritually sound believers, we must periodically examine and score ourselves to know where we are in our spiritual journey.
Friend, are you ready to sow your present life for a more beneficial life? Do you realize that as sweet and lovely as your child life may be, you will never wish to remain a child forever? Are you aware that as a child there are certain privileges you can't access?
I want to charge you today to live up, and set out to fulfill your destiny. To live the next phase of your life you must leave this current phase.
We serve a God who is progressive in nature. So we have to choice than to resemble our maker.
We must sow our elementary life to gain an advanced life, and again sow our advanced life to gain an applied life. We must grow to a point where our word can become flesh and be exalted above our names.
